Kangals are Turkey’s national dogs. They are known for their loyalty , for their protective instincts and for their magnifiscient , proud statures.
They are the living ancestors coming from a long anatolian tradition. Kangals are raised to guard livestock.Their instincts are designed to keep the herd together and lead them to the safety.
Heroes in disguise , they are the loyal and powerful companions to the turkish people.Kangals are blessed with a thick coat giving them the advantage in the long and cold anatolian winter nights. Gentle , loyal and powerful giants…
Sadly they are also one of the breeds that have been largely abused in the country , people prefer to keep them chained to their garden in some sort of slavery to show them off to their neighbours. Many of them can be found in the streets , roaming free with their chains still hanging from their collars ; this powerful dog does not tolerate slavery.
PASHA is a member of this proud generation…
Yet his eyes are shadowed by a different kind of despair .
We found him on cage no : 16 of the shelter , and his soul was broken to its pieces , just like his front leg.
Too old to guard the herd , he was discarded after he broke one of his front legs.
His owners hoped he would die as this would save them from clinic expenses but it did not happen…
Pasha’s fracture got worse each day , each day he has been deprived of a decent medical treatment , his pain grew bigger.
He was abandoned there , in the darkest corner of the farm , fed with bread and water , two elements that kept him barely alive ; he did not deserve to be fed properly anymore , he was useless.
Pasha’s magnifiscient body finally turned against him ; it entered into a catabolic state where it fought to keep him-self alive but due to lack of nutrients , it began to destroy Pasha’s precious reserves ; muscles and fats.
Mange sets in soon and his coat disappears slowly , his odor is now unbearable for his owners and they finally give up ‘’possessing ‘’ him.
Pasha , or what is left from Pasha , is taken to the shelter.
Or maybe not yet.
We discovered Pasha’s case a bit late , the leg had already healed in a wrong way but we have nevertheless rushed him to our clinic where further assessments and tests are done.
Today we need your help , We need your help because we have to transform the despair in Pasha’s eyes to what it should have been in the first place : love and joy .
We need to heal his body but more importantly ; we MUST show him that there is another way of living .
A life where he will know he is loved , cared for and looked after.
A life where he is cherished for what he is , a loyal and loved companion , but more than that , a loving soul.
Updates on Pasha will be shared on our FB page and through e-mail privately to Pasha’s contributors.
