Our Adoption Criteria

Our main tool of promoting our rescues is Facebook and our blog.We have seen multiple benefits in connecting with the prospective adoptants through Facebook in the past. This allows us to see a piece of their life and their perspective, their set of mind.
Our adoptants families stand in life is extremely important to us as we believe this has a direct effect on our rescues.

We respect them  ,we build everlasting friendships with them,we feel they are part of our extended family and vice versa.

Once you adopt one of our rescues you become a member of our family.

Our unique approach to the relationship between the adoptants and our rescue has pushed us to set some criteria in order to secure the future of our group and our rescued paws.We don’t think the location of the adoptant families is a problem, as long as a consistent dialogue can be built we would work out the logistics in order to send our rescues home.

Our adoption criteria is as it follows;

- We seek families with at least another dog or cat that has been with them for at least 6 months.

Sometimes we make exceptions to this rule however this is extremely rare and is valid for the families who have an amazing track record of rescue or previous adoption.

- The adoptant family must take care of the animal inside their house and as a member of their family.

We often witness the horrible results of having a dog (or even a cat) in a non-secure area or worse, tied to a kennel. We don’t approve the logic behind using the dogs as guards, the technology proved that another way is possible. (Alarms)
Furthermore, this supresses the dogs or the cats chances to be embraced by the family as a member.

-NO CRATING : We find crating practise unpredictable and unethical. There is no way we can control for how many hours a dog would be in a poorly aired box so that the house would be kept out of harm.

                                                            Our Adoption Process

Once you contact us to adopt one of our rescues at heartofrescuetr@gmail.com or through the contact form on our blog we will be asking you to provide a link to your FB profile.

After the initial meeting we will send you our adoption questionnaire, you will have to fill it and send it back within a week (7 days).

We will then proceed to scanning it and considering whether or not you and your chosen rescue is a match. This requires time (up to 2 weeks) during which we connect with your references and your veterinarian to get to know more about you and your family.

Once we are certain that it will work out we send you our adoption agreement. This agreement covers issues about the well being and safety of our rescue.

Once you print and resend it back to us , we begin to work on the logistics of getting the paw to you !

It is so good to read this.
I have not seen a single shelter, rescue, or other animal organization here in the U.S. (or anywhere else) take this position. People complain about “breed specific legislation” and “temperament testing” yet they will not speak out against the common practice of keeping dogs as weapons.
Thank you for your courage and compassion.
